I am new to East Windsor but I have only found 2 dog parks so far and both are located outside of East Windsor.

The 1st is Mercer County Bark Park it is located at 334 South Post Road, West Windsor (directions) and has two dog park areas, one each for large and small dogs. This is a public park so shot records are not required and there is no admission fee. The park is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, dawn to dusk. I have been a few times with my dogs and have had a positive experience.

The other local dog park I am aware of is the Rocky Top Dog Park located at State Hwy 27 (a.k.a. Lincoln Hwy) Princeton, NJ 08540 . It is a bit of a drive, around 20mins but well worth it. This park is a private park. It is only open to the public on weekends from 12-4pm. If you are going for the 1st time bring your shot records, they will not let you in without them. The cost is $10 for the 1st dog, $5 for the 2nd.

Every time I have visited the park with my two dogs there have always been plenty of friendly dogs to play with. They have over 3 acres for the dogs to enjoy. The park is great in the spring and summer if your dogs enjoy the water.

If you are aware of any other dog parks please share. Thanks.

The original site of the East Windsor Speedway was home to the Hightstown Speedway. It was a 1/5 mile dirt oval and was operated from 1950 to October 17, 1951. It used in a paved form from 1952 to 1960. This original track was operated as Central Jersey and Airport Junction Speedways and built on the land of the old Hightstown Airport. It was torn down in 1965.

The East Windsor Speedway opened on this site on June 11, 1965 and was open until 2002 and operated under the names Acella Speedway and East Windsor Fairgrounds. It was a ½ mile long and was a clay oval. The owner and promoter of the track with Don Jones.

Races took place on Friday night. The management’s philosophy was ‘my way or the highway’. This was a good policy for them but it also alienated many people. One policy enforced was that once 3 races had been completed that was considered to be a complete show and no rain checks were ever given. The track surface was always in great shape, except for when it was raining. There was very little lighting on the track until 1990 when better lights were installed.

On, October 4, 2002 the Motorcycling Jamboree show was the end of the East Windsor Speedway. Many residents that lived close by the track complained about the noise even though the track was there first. It was torn down and used for business purposes.
