According to the Mercer County Office of Emergency Management, East Windsor Residents and Businesses may be eligible for FEMA Loans to aid in recovery from the March 12 nor’easter. Disaster loans up to $200,000 may be available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters could be eligible for loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged and destroyed personal property. Rental assistance for temporary housing is possibly available for those whose homes are uninhabitable. Businesses and non-profits of any size may be eligible to borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets, as well as up to $1.5 million for small businesses that suffered disaster-related cash flow problems. Loans up to $500,000 may be available to farmers and other agriculture operators to cover property loss. Individuals who think they might be eligible for loan assistance under this program can begin applying immediately by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or registering online at www.disasterassistance.gov.
